I'd like to propose adding a tag for CSS. We already have a `javascript` tag, it only makes sense to have a `css` tag as well.
I know this has been brought up before, but I think there are articles where the combination of `web` and `design` tags doesn't quite cut it, for example:

I would love to see a separate tag for CSS and related technologies. We have "web", but that seems excessively broad, covering anything from http to jQuery to Ruby on Rails. We also have "design" which might be stretched to cover some CSS topics, but that is described as visual design and wouldn't c...
I know that tags are supposed to be constraining what can be talked about here, and that's good! But there are so few that it's really constraining. For example, a language-agnostic story about APIs; the best tag is 'software,' which is sorta awkward.
Is there any open-ness to making a few more t...
I noticed there are many tags missing that I would expect to be able to choose when submitting a story. Some examples off the top of my head: java, scala, clojure, erlang, git, mercurial... It looks like users can't create new tags, unless I'm missing something. How are new tags added?
The old tag submission thread was fine when there weren't very many active users, but now that we're growing, it seems like we would be better served by a separate page, so that the community can also give input on new tags.
Ideally, the review process would be transparent, and the outcome of a t...
I think it would be a fantastic idea to strike the title of a post that has been filtered but contains tags that a user has not filtered. Perhaps showing the filtered tag with a visual modification would be cool too.
Example:
If I exclude web, and a post is tagged web and javascript, the title...
There is currently no 'emacs' tag. Perhaps one should be added or maybe the 'vim' tag could be repurposed as an 'editors' tag. Thoughts?
What do you guys think about allowing user defined tags similar to stack overflow? Maybe a certain amount of karma is required first etc.
I know that tags have been discusses in the past (why they are limited to a fixed set, some requests to add more etc). Still, I'd like to point out two little issues for someone who only joined the site after these discussions have been off the main page for months.

I came across [this story](http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-and-tips/git-tips-from-the-pros/) about git tips that I found useful and wanted to submit here but I could not find the appropriate tag. Since there are tags for vim & emacs, I was wondering if a tag for git should be added. Since th...
The compsci tag is perhaps not appropriate for submissions talking about meta-development, e.g. tools such as profilers/debuggers or systems and architecture (software) as I at least think it should
cover the Science (read: theoretical) aspect.
Would it make sense to introduce a "programming"/"s...
I really would rather avoid stories like this:

Seems relevant to some of the crowd I know is here. I would have used it on e.g. https://lobste.rs/s/clzzho/edelweiss_automatic_storage_reclamation_for_distributed_programming
While there is the existing lisp tag, I would really love to be able to drill down a little further. Seeing as there's an Erlang tag, this would be a nice addition. :)
When submitting a story and looking for duplicates, it would be really handy to be able to narrow the search to a given tag. For instance, looking through /t/meta to see if this idea has been brought up before.
Is this something others see as useful?
I think I originally called the `project` tag `project` and not `show` because `show` doesn't make sense as a category, but now that we have `ask`, I think `project` should be renamed to `show`.
Anyone agree or disagree?
I think lobsters needs a 'community' tag for posts about developer communities and culture.
Description: "Developer communities and culture"
Some examples of posts that would fit here that don't currently belong to any other category:

I have submitted a couple of R related articles, and unless they are related to data analysis in other languages like Python, they fall into the general Programming category.
R is becoming more popular, with the general increase on data centric projects, and is appearing in commercial tools as we...
The news tag is too general. The story submission guidelines read, "If no tags clearly apply to the story you are submitting, chances are it does not belong here. Do not overreach with tags if they are not the primary focus of the story." But nearly anything can be fitted underneath news, and you ...
If I wanted to submit stories on unique algorithms or data structures I find interesting, would it be most appropriate to submit them as math, computer science, programming, or under their own tags?
I can think of justifications for all of those categories and I was wondering what you people thin...
I'd like to propose adding a 'history' tag, to tag things like old articles, classic papers, and retrospectives like this recent interesting one: ["Talking with Mikel Evins about the lisp-based Newton os from Apple"](https://lobste.rs/s/26ejjm/talking_with_mikel_evins_about_the_lisp-based_newton_os_...
Any chance we could get a Perl (and maybe even a Perl 6) tag on Lobsters?
Could an Ocaml tag be created? Thanks!
suggestion: swift
Also [please document how to suggest new tags](https://github.com/jcs/lobsters/issues/173) for those cases when it is appropriate to do so.
There are tags for FreeBSD and OpenBSD already, so it would be nice to have NetBSD too.
